I have put more love, time, and passion into some books rather than others; a few were written mainly because of the need to pay rent. The books I treasure most:

THE BEST (Fiction, Literature, Contemporary Novel, Biography, Public Interest):

  • The Revised Kama Sutra: A Novel *  (humor, literary, complex, possibly not as “easy” reading as later books, but gets very interesting around 40-70 pages later–but please avoid the U.S. hardcover Sunstar edition, which I have disowned, and for which I was not paid royalties).
  • The Killing of an Author* (Paperback at Amazon)
  • Impressing the Whites* (Paperback now available here )
  • One Little Indian (novel): the childhood section of “The Revised Kama Sutra”, with 3 additional chapters:  on Amazon, Google Play, Kobo, Apple.

  • What We All Need
  • Beauty Queens, Children and the Death of Sex* (preferably for someone who has read at least The Revised Kama Sutra and one other book of mine)
  • Eaten by the Japanese: The Memoir of an Unknown Indian Prisoner of War* (my father’s World War II memoir, with my notes & essays).
  • Benzo Land: How Doctors and Drug Companies Enslave Us
  • The Man-eaters of Malgoonda and the Last Days of Louella Lobo Prabhu
  • Father, Rebel, Dreamer

  • No Sex, Please; You are Indians! (satirically titled selection of controversial/sex-related essays & satire from Beauty Queens)
    by Vijay Prabhu

  • What We All Need (Anthology)
  • I Will NOT Go the F**k to Sleep (humor, parody-collection)
  • Beauty Queens, Children and the Death of Sex (essays, satire, political)
  • Lord Bush of Iraq (political satire)
  • A Short History of Peckers by Benny Profane

I will come up with a few more suggestions in the next few weeks.
